B & M Bait and Tackle

I have a huge lake in my backyard and my husband likes to fish. We use to have a laceas to a ton of worms on our property but recently they've vanished so we needed bait.

They sell worms to use as bait that costs about $5 for a container of 15-20 worms.

We previously bought night crawlers. They are sold in a small container in manure (strong smelling) and they were not alive. I'm not going to lie, it was extremely stinky and attracted a lot of flies. The upside is we caught a ton of fish with them.

We recently bought earthworms. They were sold in small container in soft soil/ dirt and they were alive and it didn't smell at all (which is a huge plus). Again, we caught a ton of fish.

The bait from this place does not disappoint. They also sold a ton of bait for deep sea fishing as well with a variety of options of fishing poles and lures. They were very informative and gave us great advice on how to catch a large carp fish that was hanging out in our lake. My son is 3 1/2 and caught his first fish using their bait.

I came to Jax in September of 75, B &M was the first bait and tackle I visited when I wanted fishing bait. I caught my first redfish that day fishing from the shoreline at the little jetties. Now I had no idea what it was I caught but they told me what it was and Then I became a bit of a joke for a while when they saw what I caught it with a 6 foot Zebco 202 combo and a small wire hook I mostly used for croakers in Louisiana. Well they fixed me up right with a penn 155, a matching rod and the biggest darn hooks I ever did see up to that day and I been busting up big reds, sharks and mackerel ever since and still with that same rod and reel. Good quality long lasting stuff iffen you get my drift. B & M don't sell ya junk you don't need and that's why they have been my go to place ever since.

I have been going to B&M Bait and Tackle for maybe 35-40 years now. Rusty has always been there for me when you needed him. Today he did't let me down. I needed some heavy lead for (get this) a lighting project. They had just what I needed and he was the second place that I tried. The place has changed over the years. Bigger now with more fishing stuff where the live wells used to be. So if you need your bait or tackle this is your place. Nothing fancy just a plain ole timey bait shop. They are in a great location with relatively decent prices. I just wish they had more of a selection when it comes to soft plastics and other lures for fishing. I have always had a good experience when purchasing things from their store. I stop there when ever I put my boat in at Mayport's boat ramp.
